Reminder: Wood Cannot Be Recycled In Dunedin's Mixed Recycling Program
The facility where recycling is sent does not have the specific equipment needed to process wood.
DUNEDIN, FL —
Wood of any kind cannot be recycled in Dunedin's mixed recycling program. Here are a few reasons why:
- The Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) or sorting plant for recycling is built with specially designed machines that can only handle specific items. The facility where Dunedin's recycling is sent to does not have the specific equipment to process wood.
- The mixed recycling program does not have a market for recycled wood materials.
- Wood describes a large variety of materials, mixed composites, and blended elements. Many types of wood are also treated with chemicals and paints, making them unable to be recycled.
