PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — Forward Pinellas, with Pinellas County’s Transportation Division and the City of Clearwater, will host a Safe Streets Pinellas demonstration promoting the safety benefits of a recently installed Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) on the Duke Energy Trail crossing off Nursery Road in Clearwater.

Safe Streets Pinellas is Forward Pinellas’ Vision Zero initiative, which aims to eliminate deaths and serious injuries on our roadways. The public and media are invited to attend the free educational event on Monday, Oct. 26, between 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Please note that parking may be limited.

“The Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon is just one example of the countermeasures we can use to make our streets and intersections safer for the people who travel in Pinellas County every day,” said Forward Pinellas Executive Director Whit Blanton. “Exploring and implementing a range of countermeasures as part of Safe Streets Pinellas helps us to show how we can get to zero deaths on our roadways. Demonstration projects like this help us document the importance of using a range of tools and their effectiveness, including devices like RRFBs and increasing education.”
