The city of Dunedin will continue to operate at the 737 Louden Ave. location in Dunedin.
Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri decided to relocate the North District Station in 2016 when the building developed mold problems and no longer had enough space to accommodate the sheriff’s office’s needs. He said the sheriff’s office required at least 14,000 square feet of space.

Dunedin had been leasing 11,687 square feet of space for $200,000 a year to the sheriff’s office in the 1970s building on Louden Avenue. The sheriff’s office had occupied the Louden Avenue location for 20 years.
Gualtieri said he looked at about 35 properties in the north district but opted to remain in Dunedin at the request of the mayor and city council.
The new North District Station is located in the former Wells Fargo bank branch on Bayshore Boulevard and Curlew Road. The 37,000-square-foot building is owned by local contractor Joe Kokolakis.
The sheriff’s office is using part of the first floor of the building for a lobby and the second floor for the station offices for a total of 21,700 square feet of space.
For the increased space, the sheriff’s office will pay $563,000 a year.
