Congratulations to 7th Grade Dunedin Middle School student Sofia Harmon-Green for winning the early bird Hope for the Future Challenge Award!

Check out her video below! More awards to come! All school students in Pinellas County and Tampa Bay are eligible. Encourage students to submit creative ideas on how to protect and preserve the Gulf Coast Hope Spot. Submit student projects here.

Hope for the Future applications are now available! The Florida Gulf Coast waters have recently been declared a "Hope Spot" and the City of Dunedin is the "Home City!" A Hope Spot is a special place that is critical to the health of the oceans, and the oceans are critical to the health of the planet. The Florida Gulf Coast Hope Spot is a place that deserves our attention.

All students enrolled in a Dunedin School are eligible to participate. This can be a class, club, individual, or school-wide challenge. Students from the same school level compete against each other. Levels include Elementary (K-5), Middle School (6-8), High School (9-12).

What is the Challenge? Submit the most creative solution to keep our Hope Spot healthy!

Eligibility: All Pinellas county school students (public, private, charter, etc) within 5 distinct areas (Dunedin included!) are eligible.

Deadlines
Deadline Extension: New deadline TBD - Submissions received by the previously set deadline of April 30th, 2020 will have a chance to win an "early bird award." Projects must be submitted online. See instructions in the Application form above. Awards will be presented by the end of the school year. Time and Location TBD.

Awards: This is a multi-city challenge and a great opportunity for Dunedin to live up to the designation of Hope Spot Home City! Three $100 awards will be given to students or teams in the City of Dunedin. Schools and teachers that elect to participate will also be publicly recognized and have the chance to win one of three $100 prizes. See the application form for details.
