Here are the top 3 stories today in Dunedin:

  1. People from everywhere find sun and sand on Honeymoon Island in Dunedin. But Joe Zsika, a retired air conditioning contractor, says he found something else: unusual stones with strange markings that he says could lead him to a rich treasure. Zsika believes the markings on the stone could lead him to the very spot where privateer Louis-Michel Aury hid his bounty over 200 years ago. If he does find the treasure, Zsika promises, the state will get a share of it. (FOX 13 Tampa Bay)
  2. A Pinellas County church is destroyed after a man broke in and trashed it. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office arrested Charles Brooks over the weekend for the crime, which resulted in approximately $20,000 worth of damages. Brooks had reportedly been staying in Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church for two days prior to the incident. (WFLA)
  3. If you've been wanting to add a four-legged ball of love and affection to your household, start with these animal shelters in and around Dunedin for a pet you can take home. (Dunedin Patch)
