ODESSA, FL -- Residents and their dog were safely rescued Monday afternoon after a home in the 17000 block of Rainbow Terrace in Odessa caught fire.
Hillsborough County firefighters responded to a call around 1:15 p.m. and found heavy smoke coming from the metal roof of the home. Crews made sure that no one was trapped inside and then knocked down the blaze in about 15 minutes. However, multiple flare-ups due to heat retention by the metal roof kept firefighters working at the scene.
Due to a lack of fire hydrants in the area, firefighters had to bring in tankers with water to fight the fire.
