Smoke From Pasco Wildfire Visible in East Lake

Did you see the smoke plume Tuesday afternoon?

Smoke from a wildfire burning in the Moon Lake area of New Port Richey on Tuesday afternoon was visible from East Lake and other parts of Pinellas County. Around 1 p.m., the smoke plume could be seen as far south as the Bayside Bridge in Clearwater.

The Florida Forest Service says the wildfire is about 50 acres and is 90 percent contained. The blaze broke out Monday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. The cause is not yet known.

A smoky haze is often visible in East Lake when there is a wildfire at Brooker Creek Preserve.

The fire danger in Pinellas County is moderate, according to the Florida Forest Service.
