Fossil Valley Girl Scout Troop 33521 Partner with Seeds of Hope to Support Local Children's Backpack Drive

LITHIA, FL — July 2026 — Fossil Valley Girl Scout Troop 33521 is partnering with Seeds of Hope to help local children prepare for the upcoming school year through the organization's annual Backpack Drive.

Beginning this month, Girl Scouts are encouraging families, community members, local businesses, and organizations to join them in collecting new, good-quality backpacks and essential school supplies for children in need.

The Backpack Drive is seeking donations of:

• Backpacks
• Pencil pouches
• Color markers
• Colored pencils
• Highlighters
• #2 pencils
• Blue or black ink pens
• Children's scissors
• Glue sticks
• Spiral notebooks
• Loose-leaf paper
• Plastic pocket folders

Donors can participate in several ways, including purchasing needed items through the Seeds of Hope Amazon or Walmart wishlists, dropping off donations at designated collection locations, or organizing a collection through a troop, school, workplace, neighborhood, church, or community organization.

“Girl Scouts is about so much more than meetings and activities. It is about teaching girls to recognize a need in their community and find a way to make a difference,” said Sarah Miller, Fossil Valley Troop Leader. “Supporting Seeds of Hope's Backpack Drive gives our girls a wonderful opportunity to turn that lesson into action while helping local children begin the school year prepared and confident.”

Seeds of Hope encourages donors to choose good-quality backpacks that can withstand the demands of the school year, helping ensure that children receive supplies that are both useful and durable.
