Fossil Valley Girl Scouts Honors Ashlyn Grisham with 2026 Scholarship Award

LITHIA, Fla. — The Fossil Valley Girl Scouts Service Unit is proud to announce Ashlyn Grisham as a recipient of the 2026 Fossil Valley Scholarship, recognizing her outstanding leadership, service, and commitment to the Girl Scout mission.

A Girl Scout for ten years, Ashlyn has become a familiar face at nearly every Fossil Valley event. Whether assisting at encampments, supporting World Thinking Day celebrations, volunteering at Juliette Gordon Low Birthday events, or helping younger girls build confidence and skills, Ashlyn consistently leads through service and example.

Fellow volunteers describe Ashlyn as someone who brings enthusiasm, kindness, and a willingness to help wherever needed. Her positive attitude and dedication have made her a trusted mentor to younger Girl Scouts, encouraging them to uphold the Girl Scout Promise and Law while ensuring that every experience remains fun and meaningful.

Ashlyn has earned both her Bronze and Silver Awards and has served in leadership roles through summer camp Counselor-in-Training and internship programs. Through these experiences, she has developed skills in teamwork, leadership, project planning, and community service.

In her scholarship essay, Ashlyn described Girl Scouts as a "journey" that has shaped her into a leader and active member of her community. She credits the program with teaching her resilience, service, and the importance of lifting others up during challenges.

This fall, Ashlyn plans to attend Florida Gulf Coast University, where she will study Marine Science. She hopes to continue her education beyond a bachelor's degree and pursue opportunities in ocean conservation and environmental stewardship. Inspired by her years in Girl Scouts, she plans to use her leadership skills to protect marine habitats and make a positive impact on communities and ecosystems alike.
