FORT MYERS, Fla. (May 8, 2020) – With a major storm predicted this weekend, City of Fort Myers crews are checking stormwater drains in advance of the anticipated rain event. In addition, public works staff monitors swales throughout the city, proactively removing plants, trees and debris that could inhibit water flow.
The city is also working with FDOT maintenance crews to make sure drains are ready to accept significant inflows. Residents are encouraged to check any storm drains on their private property to make sure they are clear of debris, therefore reducing the risk of localized flooding.
