City Of Fort Myers, Salvation Army, Plan To Apply For Funding To Upgrade SA Center Of Hope

Pending review and approval of the City Council at the September, 2020 meeting, the City of Fort Myers in conjunction with The Salvation Army of Lee, Hendry, and Glades Counties will apply for Rebuild Florida General Infrastructure Program (GIP) funding to upgrade and harden The Salvation Army Center of Hope at 2400 Edison Avenue.

GIP funding will be combined with local Salvation Army campaign fundraising to rebuild and expand its family shelter, emergency transitional shelter, corrections dormitories, food pantry, emergency disaster warehouse, chapel/multipurpose space, administrative offices, social service outreach center and recreation area for shelter guests.
Total GIP funding available to the State of Florida is $475 million, while The Salvation Army infrastructure project is estimated at $23 million.
