Actress and author, called “an incomparable concert performer” by The Wall Street Journal, she mixes cabaret and classic shows with much-praised recordings—and then adds a wry take on them all in sparkling prose. A Gulf Coast Symphony fan favorite, Melissa has performed with the Gulf Coast Symphony a half dozen times over that past 20 years. The Gulf Coast Jazz collective is joined by James Suggs (trumpet) and Aaron West (saxophone) to explore the music of Dizzy Gillespie. Along with Charlie Parker, Dizzy is known as one of the creators of the bebop genre of Jazz. He is also one of the early architects of Jazz Fusion, by uniting his fascinations with Afro-Cuban music with Jazz.

Founded in 2021, the Gulf Coast Jazz Collective brings the best of live Jazz performance to Southwest Florida. Under the artistic direction of drummer, educator, composer & arranger Paul Gavin, the Jazz Collective invites the best artists from the country to collaborate in concerts that span the entire genre of Jazz.
