Bald Eagle Couple's First Egg Spotted On Cam In Fort Myers

M-15's former mate, Harriet, vanished this year after an intruder was seen near the nest, a report says. He has an egg with a new mate.

FORT MYERS — The sighting of the first egg by bald eagle couple M-15 and F-23 was caught on video Friday by the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam.

"We have an Egg! What a special moment when F23 gave us that first glimpse of the new arrival! The odds were against this newly mated couple but Mother Nature and natural instinct continues to prevail! Now we (not so) patiently await M's first look and a possible second egg," the SFEC said in a Facebook post.

Fox 13 Tampa Bay said the egg sighting comes after Harriet, a longtime matriarch, vanished early this year after an intruder was seen near the nest.

"She was never seen again by officials who monitor the nest, leaving M-15 to fend for their two hatched eaglets," the outlet wrote.
