St. Peter Claver Place Phase II To Add 78 Affordable Apartments To Fort Myers

This is the second phase of a 214-unit apartment community. Total project cost for Phase II will be $16,759,591.

The project will help alleviate the current deficit of housing in Fort Myers redevelopment areas and provide many community benefits. Its affordable workforce apartments will be rented at below market rate. In addition, a variety of social services will be offered to residents through its subsidiary, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice, Inc. Services include adult education, benefits applications, clothing, after school care, financial assistance, housing counseling and senior services.

Phase II will consist of 78 two- and three-bedroom apartments in two-and three-story buildings. There will also be a community building for residents.

The developer, National Development of America, has already been approved for a $4.5 million rebate for Phase I, the larger phase of the project which will introduce 136 units into the area.
The project will be owned by the Diocese of Venice which currently owns the 17.44 acre site, located at 3681 Michigan Avenue. The Diocese owns and operates the African Caribbean American Catholic Center (AFCAAM) facility on this property.

Projected completion for Phase II is 2024.
