­­​​Wilson School Students Celebrate i-Ready Success with Chick-fil-A

The students at CHSD170’s Wilson Elementary School are participating in monthly i-Ready Challenges for students.

During the exercise, students accept the challenge of passing a certain number of Reading and Math lessons on their personalized i-Ready paths.

In October, Kindergarten- second-grade students were given the goal of passing 12 Reading and Math lessons, while third through fifth-grade students were challenged to pass 10 Reading and Math lessons.

Any student achieving the assigned goal receives a prize. Keturah Byrd’s fifth-grade students chose the October prize and, from among several options, the winning vote was for Chick-fil-A.

One fifth-grader said, “The reason I worked hard was so I could get the Chick-fil-A.”

Karlin Ritter, Wilson School’s Instructional Coach, reached out to the Chick-fil-A Homewood location, inquiring about the possibility of the store donating chicken nuggets for our students.

Mr. Harrison, a Chick-fil-A Brand Director, responded the same day, offering to donate four large trays of nuggets with sauces for the students.

“We greatly appreciate the generosity of Chick-fil-A. Their donation brought great excitement to the students who were able to participate in the October i-Ready Celebration,” Ritter said.

Fifty-one students met the i-Ready challenge and enjoyed their reward of Chick-fil-A nuggets and waffle chips during lunch on October 31st.

According to i-Ready Learning, the program is a collection of high-quality instructional resources that help students learn and grow by accessing grade-level materials. Grounded in best-practice instructional design, these tools provide rigorous and motivating reading and mathematics instruction that engage and motivates students while creating personal learning pathways for each participant.

Los estudiantes de la escuela Wilson obtienen una recompensa de Chick-fil-A

Los estudiantes de la Escuela Primaria Wilson de CHSD170 participan en desafíos iReady mensuales para estudiantes.

Durante el ejercicio, los estudiantes aceptan el desafío de aprobar una cierta cantidad de lecciones de lectura y matemáticas en sus rutas iReady personalizadas.

En octubre, a los estudiantes de jardín de infantes a segundo grado se les dio la meta de aprobar 12 lecciones de lectura y matemáticas, mientras que a los estudiantes de tercero a quinto grado se les retó a aprobar 10 lecciones de lectura y matemáticas.

Cualquier estudiante que logre la meta asignada recibe un premio. Los estudiantes de quinto grado de la Keturah Byrd eligieron el premio de octubre y, entre varias opciones, el voto ganador fue para Chick-fil-A.

Un estudiante de quinto grado dijo: “La razón por la que trabajé duro fue para poder conseguir Chick-fil-A”.
