$1,000 Reward for Vandalisms and Burglaries

"With school out soon, we are expecting more of this," Dan Liedtke said.

The Pasadena Yacht & Country Club communities are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest(s) in connection with several vandalisms and burglaries.

Dan Liedtke, President of the Kipps Colony Estates Homeowners Association and member of the Master Association Board, says criminal mischief has been going on for some time. But about 6 months ago, the problems escalated.

Liedtke says someone spray painted X's on stop signs, changed the speed limit from 20 to 28 on one and spray painted vehicles. And several unlocked vehicles had items stolen from inside.

"Most of the stuff, we were able to clean off but we had to purchase a new stop sign," Liedtke said.

He says Bill Riley Painting, 7833 9th Ave S. St. Petersburg, cleaned up several stop signs for free.

"I don't think people are being targeted. . . [but] with school being out soon, we are expecting more of this," Liedtke said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Gulfport Police Department's Non-Emergency Line at (727) 893-1030.

Sgt. Robert Burkhart says callers can remain anonymous.
