5 Things to Know This Weekend

Coastal Cleanup, Chance of Rain and more in "5 Things to Know This Weekend."

Coastal Cleanup: There is a Tampa Bay International Coastal Cleanup tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 17 at 9 a.m. at the Gulfport Beach. Volunteers should meet just west of the Gulfport Casino Ballroom. For more information call 533-0402. There is another cleanup scheduled for October 15, 2011, at Clam Bayou at 9 a.m.

Volunteers Needed: So49 is recruiting volunteers for the upcoming 4th Annual Tangerine Blues Fest! Volunteers will receive an orientation before the September 24th event and opportunities include, but are not limited to; entrance monitoring, parking, beer truck and ticket booth.  This year promises to be bigger and better than last year and will again benefit All Children’s Hospital of St. Pete. 9 Chickens Positive For Virus: Pinellas County Mosquito Control has confirmed five additional sentinel chickens have tested positive for St. Louis encephalitis which brings the total to nine sentinel chickens that tested positive for the virus. The sentinel chickens that were confirmed positive were kept at the North County Maintenance Yard in Palm Harbor (2), Sawgrass Lake Park in St. Petersburg (1), Walsingham Park in Seminole (3), the Oldsmar Sewage Treatment Plan in Oldsmar (2) and the Keller Water Treatment Facility in Tarpon Springs (1).
