Busy Saturday: There's A LOT going on in Gulfport today. Mask-Making Party, Zone 1 Crime Watch Halloweed Block Party, Third Saturday Art Walk and more! Check out our weekly post "GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview" and our calendar for details about all the weekend's events. Did we forget something? Add it!
Clam Bayou Cleanup: The City of Gulfport is hosting a cleanup today starting at 9 a.m. at the Clam Bayou Nature Park. People can help pick up along the trails and in the bayou if they bring kayaks and canoes. Make sure to sign in at the volunteer tent to get your supplies. Lunch will be provided to volunteers. Also, if you plan on going, snap a few photos and share them with us at Gulfport Patch. We really want to know what you end up finding! Email the editor at cherlene.willis@patch.com.
We Love Photos, Do You?: As you can tell Gulfport Patch loves photos! This week we had photos of the Gulfport Fresh Market, Gulfport Senior Center Birthday Party and 101st Birthday Bash. Last week we snapped a few photos of some furry friends at the Blessing of the Animals. If YOU have photos you want to share with the world . . well "patchland" perhaps, then send them in with the date, time, event and of course name of the photographer. Email cherlene.willis@patch.com.

Petitions Circulating: A group of Gulfport residents and volunteers are gathering signatures to bring a charter amendment to a public vote. If passed, the referendum would make the Gulfport Police Department a chartered Department. At least a dozen people are expected to meet at the Gulfport Neighborhood Center, 1617 49th St. S, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. From there, people will go door to door and set up in front of the Liberty Gas Station/Kwik Stop, 5227 Gulfport Blvd. S, beginning at 10 a.m. to solicit signatures. Organizers will also have a table on Beach Boulevard during the Third Saturday Art Walk. For information about volunteering, the petition itself or providing a signature, contact Frank Verdino at (727) 324-9517 or verdino.frank@yahoo.com.
