Happy Birthday Senior Center: There are no more tickets left for the Gulfport Multipurpose Senior Center's 28th Birthday Party today at 1:30 p.m. Sterling Magee & The Harlem Blues Band will be performing at the party. Learn more about the local group on their Facebook page.

Columbus Day: Yes, Columbus Day is an official holiday. And this year, it's today! The federal holiday marks the anniversary of Christopher Columbus' arrival and discovery of the Americas on October 12, 1492. I'm sure we've all heard of the poem right? Medicare Election Period: Officials with the Gulfport Senior Center are reminding people to review your current health care and prescription drug coverage. Also this year, there is a change in the enrollment period. For more information, seniors are encouraged to come to the Medicare Seminar on Monday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. at the Gulfport Senior Center. Information will be provided by SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders), a program of the Florida Department of Elder Affairs.
