221st Birthday: The United States Coast Guard is celebrating 221 years of service today. According to the website, President George Washington created the Revenue Cutter Service on August 4, 1790. That service of “a few armed vessels, judiciously stationed at the entrances of our ports, might at a small expense be made useful sentinels of the laws” has grown into America’s maritime first responder.

Boys and Girls Club Benefit: Get your tickets for "Three's Company" at the Catherine Hickman Theater on Friday and Saturday.
