5 Things to Know Today: Thursday, July 14

1) Help us clean up Blackthorn Memorial Park today from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. just north of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. All the Pinellas County Patch Editors are meeting in the parking lot at the North Sunshine Skyway Fishing Pier. Look for the group wearing green "Patch" t-shirts! Hope to see you there.

2) Mark your calendars! The Rand McNally USA Today "Best of the Road" winners in each category will be announced on July 21 and posted by USA Today in the July 22nd edition. Gulfport is one of six small-town finalists in the "Best for Food" category. Learn more about the "Fun Finders" journey on their blog, Facebook page and Twitter account. 

3) If you haven't already, comment on the "Fun Finders" blog posts about Gulfport! Let officials with "Best of the Road" how much we enjoyed having the team visit the city. 4) Get your tickets today for the 11th Annual Summer One Act Festival at the Catherine Hickman Theater, 5507 27th Ave S. The final week is from July 14 - 17. Tickets are $15 per person for shows at 8 p.m. on Thu - Sat and 2 p.m. on Sunday. For more information about tickets check out the Gulfport Community Players website.
