City Council Meeting: The Gulfport City Council meeting is tonight at 7 p.m. at . Remember, you can read and print the entire agenda from the city's website.
Fresh Produce: Come on out to the weekly Gulfport Fresh Market today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Beach Blvd. in Gulfport. The market features fruits, vegetables, seafood, cheese, honey, baked goods, teas, herbs and plants. Vendors also sell local arts and crafts and feature live music.
County Budget Workshop Cancelled: The Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners budget workshop set for Tuesday, August 16th has been cancelled. The budget work sessions that were scheduled for Thursday, August 18th and Thursday, August 25th have also been cancelled. The commissioners will meet at 9:30 a.m. for a review of Pinellas County’s Centennial. Gina Thiemann of Florida Destinations will meet with the commissioners to review centennial plans to date. The meeting will be held in the fifth-floor conference room, Pinellas County Courthouse, 315 Court St., Clearwater. And it will not be televised.

West Nile Virus Possibility: According to the Pinellas County Government website, preliminary test results of a sentinel chicken in Pinellas County showed a positive indication for West Nile Virus. There is no confirmation of results but the test showed that there is a possibility. Final results may be available on Friday, Aug. 19. As a precaution, Pinellas County Mosquito Control will be fogging Sawgrass Lake Park, where the chicken was tested. Blood tests are preformed on sentinel chickens throughout the county as a part of the county’s early warning system.
