Armed Robbery at Gulfport Kwik Stop

Gulfport Police Officers need your help tonight. They are searching for a man who robbed the Kwik Stop on Gulfport Boulevard. Officials say he is 'armed and dangerous.'

Officials are searching for the armed robber who held up the Liberty Gas Station/Kwik Stop at around 6:30 Sunday night.

Det. Sgt. Robert Burkhart says the man is about 6 feet tall with a slender build. He was wearing a black hoodie, dark pants and a silver and black bandana. "All you (could) see was his eyes," Burkhart said.

The man displayed a handgun at the cashier, demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

At least one customer was inside the store and another drove up as the robbery happened.

No one saw a getaway car. Police say the man ran out, and headed north on foot into an alley next to the store.

The suspect is described as "armed and dangerous."

Burkhart says the St. Petersburg Police Department is aiding in the search, and a K-9 Unit is also on the scene trying to track the suspect.
