Boca Ciega High School Locked Down this Morning
Boca Ciega High School was locked down on Thursday May 19, 2001, for about an hour between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Around 8:15 a.m. this morning Resource Officer Steven Beltran received information that a student from and his brother were headed to Boca Ciega High School to look for another student and were possibly armed with weapons. Boca Ciega High School was put on lockdown for about an hour while Gulfport Police Officers searched the school.
Dr. Solomon Lowery, Boca Ciega High School Assistant Principal, says the lockdown was a "precautionary measure". "We take the upmost respect and service of any threat to our campus," Lowery said.
According to the Gulfport Police Department, the student who was the target was taken from class and his parents picked him up from campus. Officials did not locate weapons or trespassers on or near campus during the search. The lock down was lifted around 10 a.m.
