Boca Ciega's Monroe Goes 1-2 At State Wrestling Finals

102-pound junior beats RaSean McArthur of Tallahassee Lincoln in consolations for his lone victory Friday.

LAKELAND — 's De'Jhuan Monroe posted a 1-2 record Friday on the first day of the FHSAA Wrestling Finals at The Lakeland Center, which eliminated the junior from state title contention.

Monroe, who competed in the 102-pound division in Class 2A, lost to John Freia of Olympic Heights in the opening round by a pin in 3:21.

Monroe rebounded in the consolation round to defeat RaSean McArthur of Tallahassee Lincoln for his only victory of the afternoon. In his next match, Monroe fell to Cole Schreiber of Lake City Columbia by a forfeit to end his chase for a state wrestling title.
