GULFPORT AREA CHAMBER ELECTS 2013 OFFICERS

At their January 17 Board of Director's Meeting The Gulfport Area Chamber of Commerce elected their new Officers for 2013.

Serving as President once again will be Lori Rosso, owner/operator of Seabreeze Manor Bed and Breakfast Inn.  The new Vice President is Linda Craig, owner of  Perfect Ten Nail Salon and Boutique.  Barry Rubin, President of Time Systems, Inc. is the new Treasurer.  Secretary is Lynda Shehan, owner of Auntie Lynda's Pet Care.

Chamber officers are elected annually by the Chamber's Board of Directors.  The officers and directors are responsible for the overall governance of the Chamber which is a private, not for profit corporation.  They are also responsible for electing the officers; prescribing the annual Plan of Work, (policies and major projects); establishing the annual operating budget and actively supporting the Chamber's mission.  A lengthy retreat, away from their businesses is being planned in the next 30 days in order to address the Board's major responsibilities.

The Chamber Board Members, in addition to the officers, are: Dr. Silas Daniel, owner of Dr. Silas Daniel, DDS; Atty. Charles Gallagher, Principal Partner in Gallagher and Associates Law Firm; Lewis Slaff, owner of Gulfport Auto and Truck Repair; West Dupes, owner of Insurance Concepts Unlimited; Ester Venouziou, President of Local Shops 1; Joe Guenther, of O'Maddy's, Joe Soska, President of Olympus Printing, Inc.; Pat Dunham, of Pat Dunham Home Based Business Consulting; Brian Atkins, Manager of Regions Bank, Gulfport and Andrea Royce of The Longhouse.

A large number of volunteers provide valuable community service by staffing the Information Center and assisting with the Chamber's many functions and events.  Members also provide staff assistance when available.  Coordinating many activities, including membership sales is the Chamber's Executive Director, Robert Newcomb.  In charge of accounting and Membership Management is Lillie Cintron,  MBA.  Operations Manager, the Chamber's only professional staff person.
