Let's face it, the NFL is not, and has never been, about family values. It's all about a brutal game, using up human resources and money.
Today's crop of popular entertainers feels more compelled to make statements part of the performance. Some good, some bad, some plain stupid.
As long as the NFL has an unwitting sponsor like Bridgestone that will pony up money for these cutting-edge extravaganzas, there will be controversy.
