Volunteerism, giving back, who does it and why? 

Gulfport is one of those communities that exudes an impressive amount of this.  Maybe because I spent almost 20 years as an anonymous walking resume in Washington, D.C. I see it more readily then most. But there are examples of this spirit everywhere in Gulfport. From individuals that serve on formal boards to neighborhood cleanups. From manning a booth at a festival to attending events to promote Gulfport. From asking questions at meetings to choosing local businesses.  It is a conscious decision to support Gulfport. 

What motivates people to get involved and donate their time and efforts to the community? They care, plain and simple. That’s what is so marvelous to me.
