New Sheriff -- New Day -- Same Service

Bob Gualtieri is the new face of law enforcement administration bright, talented and dedicated.

The transfer of power whether it be Legislative, Judicial or Administrative is always a moving event to watch. I have been privileged to witness the swearing in many new mayors, council members, police officers, recently Governor Scott and Wednesday, the swearing in of Bob Gualtieri as the new Sheriff of Pinellas County.

In a world torn by strive it is fascinating to watch the transfer of power in our society take place in just a few minutes, with great reverence and respect.

Even more impressive is that we as a citizenry respect those transfers of authority and power.

Wednesday the room was full of dignitaries, from Congressman Young right on down to Mayors, City Council members and law enforcement officials from around the State and County. The normal political junkies were there as well. Now former Sheriff Jim Coats and his wife Cat were there in what must be a bittersweet moment. All in all very moving.

There will be plenty of time to talk about his campaign to be elected to the office later. For now Bob Gualtieri will be a good Sheriff.
