Vacation in our Nation: The Garden State

We finally made it!!

Before I begin, let me just say that the wi-fi is pretty spotty here and at the moment I am unable to upload any pictures but I promise I will as soon as I can.

My mother drug my dad and I out of bed at about 6:30 this morning to complete our road trip. We gathered up our belongings, grabbed a bite from the small selection in the lobby, and hit the road at about 7 a.m. I slept for a good 3 hours and did not wake up until we had hit West Virginia, it was quite a long drive through Virginia. I think I read for a good majority of the way. We stopped for lunch and one final fuel-up in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, where my best friend was born. Then we were back on the road at about 12:30. Again, I read for most of the time until we hit the edge of Pennsylvania, just getting ready to cross into Jersey, which we did at about 3 p.m.

We pulled into the Stokes State Forest ranger station, grabbed the keys to our cabin, drove another two miles up the road and found our cabin. The cabin is exactly what you're thinking; log cabin, 4 beds with wooden bed frames, a wooden picnic table, tiny kitchen, and an even tinier bathroom. Our cabin lies on Lake Ocquitunk, we have a beautiful view and about 9 other cabins in the same area. Need to take a shower? The shower station is about a 5 minute walk from our cabin, and it's quite a cold walk back!

We settled into our cabin and dad took a nap while mom and I explored. We spotted a deer in front of our neighboring cabin, she just looked at us and went about her business. Once dad woke up we went into town for dinner at a place called Jumboland (and boy does it live up to its name!) and then we went to a little mom and pop grocery store for some fire wood. When we returned, dad started a fire and we all sat around it, just relaxing, it's so nice and so beautiful.

Tomorrow we plan on doing some more exploring but for now, I'm tired!!

Number one to last night's trivia was answered by Rebecca Glass, and the second one went unanswered.

Here were yesterdays:

1. What technical college is located near my current location in Christiansburg, Virginia? Virginia Tech

2. In Brunswick, Georgia one of the city's main landmarks is an oak tree nicknamed the "Lovers Oak", what century does this tree reportedly date back to?.......12th century, believe it or not!

And here are today's questions:

1. In Winchester, Virginia, one man, who would soon become very famous, began his surveying career, who was this man?

2. Branchville, New Jersey (the town we're staying in) was established by settlers from what state during the 18th century?
