Vacation In Our Nation: 'We Weren't in Florida Anymore!'
Our first day on the road! Louisiana here we come!
At approximately 4:10 a.m. on the morning of June 9th, my mom, dad, and I pulled out of our driveway beginning the three-day journey to Colorado. I slept on and off until about 8/8:30, until we pulled up to the gas station then dashed across the road and ate breakfast at the Huddle House north of Perry, Florida but not yet to Tallahassee. Once we left the restaurant it was steady rain all day, we never once saw the sun.
Somewhere around noontime we pulled into Alabama . . . still raining. We faced a lot of traffic in Alabama, especially in Mobile. We also went through the underwater tunnel in Mobile!
Our next state was Mississippi! We stopped at the welcome center and decided that the rain just wasn't going to let up; therefore we couldn't eat lunch at the picnic tables so we decided to stop somewhere. We went to a McDonald's somewhere in Mississippi for lunch. We walked up to the girl at the register and she began talking, with a southern accent, so I thought to myself "I wonder where she is from?" Then I remembered . . . We weren't in Florida anymore!

Next and final state for the day was Louisiana. We rolled into Louisiana at about 4 p.m. It was still raining! It was amazing as we went through New Orleans and seeing how some places and properties still haven't been fixed up and reopened since Hurricane Katrina hit.
We finally made it to our destination of Gonzales, Louisiana, which is, by the way, the Jambalya capital of the world! It is also where the Cabelas and our hotel is. We didn't even bother stopping at the hotel first, we dashed straight into the Cabelas parking lot. We stop by the second floor and the back of the store and we plan on going back Sunday morning to finish the store. Then we went to Cracker Barrel for dinner and went to our hotel!

Before I sign off for the night I'm going to do trivia about whatever state we're in and I would like you to comment with your answer(s)! Although there are no prizes if you get it correct, it's still fun to play along!
The questions are:
1. The Battle of New Orleans made who a national hero?
2. Pascagoula, Mississippi was the birthplace for what famous musician who used to play at the Cheshire Cat on Gulfport Boulevard?
Goodnight and goodbye!
