Want to Have Your Voice Heard?

Have an opinion? Want to have your say in how the City is run?

I guess I am familiar with having my thoughts and concerns voiced to City Council. Tonight, I was asked by a resident about an upcoming decision by Council that they did not agree upon and didn’t know where to turn.

The City Council and City staff are always here to help you, the resident, or the business. If they don’t hear from you, they don’t know there is a concern or problem. City Council members and staff are readily accessible and have always appreciated public input. It is better if you are apprised of local happenings that impact issues rather than coming to them with single issues, however, they won’t put you off because of that. www.mygulfport.us is the city website.

You can see the agendas for meetings and workshops, see minutes from past meetings and know how to contact your council person.

If you go to www.mygulfport.us you can see the agendas, packets and all that will be discussed at a meeting. You can also see the minutes of those meetings and why decisions were made as they were. It will also tell you if a special meeting, workshop or other are being scheduled and why. The excuse of “I didn’t know” is not an appropriate one any more, just pay more attention to the city site.

All you need to do is email your council person at:

This will enable you to send a direct email message. Remember, our Council members are not full time employees of the City so you should not expect to get them via phone, however, many of them have told you where to find them should they not be available via email.

This maybe a small town but we have a City Council and City staff that truly want to see Gulfport at its finest. Small talk amongst us does not help, we need to let the city and council know what our concerns are and have them address them.  Contrary to popular opinion, they do listen and react in our best interests because it is in their best interests as well.
