City Limits: Strike at Ten Pin Lanes
Despite our really low scores, date night at the "Glow Bowl" at Ten Pin Lanes was still a success. It was all about having fun and friendly competition.
Robert and I searched in the Gulfport Patch "Places" tab and spotted the Ten Pin Lanes Bowling Alley in South Pasadena. So, on a Friday night, during their "Glow Bowl". Games during the "Glow Bowl" were about $5 per game or a total of $16 per person. So, we decided to go all out and bowl a few games each for the $16 per person. Every friday, around 9 p.m. they turn down the lights, bring out the disco balls and crank up the music!
We picked out our bowling balls, ordered some drinks and got comfy in our seating area. I noticed several families around and groups bowling together. The music helped set the tone and the disco lights helped hide my poor throws. Even though I found an 8 pound ball, I still struggled to keep the stupid thing straight. My game is very inconsistent. I'd get a strike then spare and then nothing. I called is a big fat "goose egg". (A zero). During a few throws I yelled at my ball rolling towards the pins, like I was giving it pointers on how to get them all. Robert kept mumbling something about being better than me, but I just zoned that out.
In all, we bowled three games. We didn't end up with amazing scores. I think in one game, I bowled less than 100. Even at our best, we didn't break 150. But, the effort was there and the friendly competition was fun. After we paid and turned in our shoes, we checked out the video games and air hockey table. Robert quickly challenged me to a game of air hockey. Within minutes, we were bent over, eye brows cringed and game faces on. You see, just because I'm married to Robert doesn't mean I ever let him win to make him feel better. When it comes to air hockey, game on means GAME ON!

He hit, then I hit . . . then he'd yelp something and then I'd say half a word. A few times, he hit the puck so hard it would spin off the table. But, despite my efforts Robert took home the victory with a score of 7 to 4.
All in all, it was a great date night. I did notice that the bowling alley offered several other deals and themes including Family Day on Sundays. Check out their website for more information. I know they had Memorial Day deals, perhaps they have 4th of July deals. Call (727) 381-1010 for details.
