Bogie Tennis Team Steven Hollis Wants to Become a Doctor

Bogie Tennis team Junior Steven Hollis has played tennis with Boca Ciega High School for two years. He wants to study biochemistry, possibly at Duke and become a doctor.

What sport other than tennis, do you like to play?

"I run Cross Country and I really like baseball. I have played Center field, Second base and Pitcher when I was in Little League."

What music is on your MP3 player?

"I like Dispatch; they’re a college rock band. I also listen to Foo Fighters, Rage Against, Sublime, and some rap."

What are your hobbies?

"Mostly studying and playing tennis."

Who is your role model?

"I’d have to say my parents, Mom and Dad. They taught me to be thankful and to persevere."

 What is it about tennis that can prepare you for the outside world?

"Tennis definitely helps prepare me for the outside world because it teaches good decision making. It teaches you control and how to calm down. It makes you appreciate the friendships you have. Everyone on our team likes one another because they’re good people."

What clubs do you belong too?

"Next year, I’ll be the Treasurer for the Spanish Honor Society. I’m a member of the National Honor Society, member of the Medical Magnet program; I’m on the debate team, member of the Marine Club and President of the Academic Team. I’m also taking four AP classes. I am a student athletic trainer as well."

What colleges are you looking into?

"I’d like to go to an out of state college. I’ve looked at Duke and Emory for out of state, University of Florida for instate. Not sure yet."

What will you study?

"I want to study biochemistry, get my undergrad, and then go on to Medical School. I’d like to be either an ophthalmologist or go into orthopedics."

Who’s your best friend?

"Jasdeep Dingh; I’ve known him for about a year now. He helps me study harder."

What is your GPA?

"Unweighted, its 3.97 weighted 4.69."
