On Dec. 21, 2008, Evans was arrested and charged with two counts of first–degree murder of his estranged wife, Elizabeth K. Evans, 44, and her friend, Jerry B. Taylor, 43.
Evans, a 44-year-old former vice president of Jabil Circuit Web, and his wife were going through a divorce, reports the St. Petersburg Times.

She moved out of their shared mansion, at 333 Hermosita Dr., in St. Pete Beach, to Sun Ketch condominiums, 6080 Gulfport Blvd. S. in Gulfport, where she lived with daughter Molly Rhoades, now a 20-year old university student, reports the St. Pete Times.
Gulfport Police Det. Sgt. Robert Burkhart says that although the alleged murders happened in Gulfport, the address is part of unincorporated Pinellas County. The case is being handeled by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
