DUI Wolf Pack Ready to Roam Over Labor Day Weekend

A number of Pinellas County agencies are teaming up for the Labor Day weekend push.

Motorists who plan to knock a few back over the Labor Day weekend will want to make sure to have a designated driver in place before hitting the road.

A number of Pinellas County law enforcement agencies have announced plans to team up for a DUI Wolf Pack. Participating agencies include the Florida Highway Patrol, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and the Tarpon Springs, Clearwater, Largo, Belleair, Gulfport and St. Petersburg police departments.

The Wolf Pack, designed to pull impaired drivers off local roads, will get under way Saturday evening and continue through the wee hours of Sunday morning, the sheriff’s office announced in an email to media.

“This operation is part of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s on-going commitment to reduce deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving,” the email said. “The goal of the Wolf Pack is to educate citizens and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances.”

Motorists who have had too much to drink and don’t have another way home will find AAA’s Tow 2 Go service will operate throughout the holiday weekend.
