The Gulfport Police present National Night Out, an community event "designed to heighten crime-prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and are fighting back."
This evening includes a group walk at 9pm to represent the commitment between community and law enforcement against crime and criminals.
Other highlights include:
- Emergency vehicle displays, including marked and unmarked police patrol cars, patrol boat, mobile crime, lab, and the new fire engine;
- A display of tactical and investigative equipment;
- Handouts of crime-prevention resources and children's activity books;
- Scheduling of home and business security surveys;
- Free bicycle safety inspections;
- Free children's bicycle helmets (while supplies last);
- Free child fingerprinting;
- Food by Smokin' J's of Gulfport (while supplies last).
