11th Annual Geckofest: "The Lizard of Oz"

  • This whimsical sendoff to summer is like Mardi Gras meets the Renaissance and brings together strolling street performers, main stage performers, performing artists and vendors with all types of unusual wares up and down Beach Boulevard.

This year’s theme is “Lizard of Oz." Join the o-FISH-al Gecko Goddess and the Gecko Governor along with other roving characters who will roam the streets and entertain the crowd.

More than 200 vendors and performing artists will be in attendance. Bring your dancing shoes and a beach chair to enjoy live music from Joel & Dakota, Cannon Quinn, Tropical Disturbance, Ave. 43, Gabe Whitney, Gypsy Train and more from Noon till 10pm.

An all-new children’s area produced by Spotlight Amusements will be available.

Don’t forget this is an audience-participation event, especially the walking parade at 6pm. Come dressed in your the weird and wacky, and line up anywhere along the parade route or in front of the casino at 5:30pm.

Adults and children can win prizes for best costumes, including Best Lizard of Oz, Best Decorated Umbrella, and Best Hat.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit a public art installation in the Waterfront District.
