Get a Jump on Holiday Shopping With the Gulfport Art Walk
Christmas in July? Why not? The Gulfport Art Walk is a great chance to get some holiday shopping done well ahead of schedule.

Here are today's "Five Things You Need to Know" for Gulfport for Friday, July 6.
Weather: Typical Florida summer pattern per the National Weather Service. Expect a 30 percent chance of afternoon thundershowers after 2 p.m. Though the temperature is only expected to get to 91, the heat index could soar to 98. Otherwise, it should be a sunny day.
Cheap gas: As of Thursday night, GasBuddy.com found the lowest-priced gas in Gulfport to be at Citgo located at 1422 58th St. South. There, a gallon of unleaded gas was found to be $3.11.

Art walk: Hey, it's the first Friday of the month and that means it's time for the . Beginning at 3000 Beach Blvd. South, the art walk features some 50 different artists, crafters and authors displaying their wares. It's a great chance to do some early holiday shopping as well. The art walk also gives participants the chance to sample some of Gulfport's quaint restaurants. The fun begins at 6 p.m.
Teen swing dance: Gulfport teenagers get a chance to enter a time machine to the 1940s in a swing dance. The event, at the, is open to teens 13-and-over. Teens are encouraged to go retro and dress in the style of a bygone era. Cost is $7 and begins at 7 p.m.

Storytime at the library: Preschool students through first grade students are encouraged to participate in today at 4 p.m. Each student, along with a parent or guardian, gets involved in interactive stories, sing-a-longs and readings. The fun is free.
