Five Things to Know Today: Friday, July 8

Five things to know as we are just hours away from the second weekend of the seventh month of the year:

1) Weather: Better have your umbrellas handy today. There's a good chance of rain all day today, per AccuWeather.com. It will be soupy when you wake up with the temperature in the high 70s and a humidity even higher. By the time you get to work it should be in the lower 80s. Thunderstorms on and off all day. The good thing though is that all the cloud cover may prevent the temperature from reaching 90. 

2) Bye-bye space shuttle: If the space shuttle launches today (see No. 1 above), it will be the . Reports are some one million people have descended upon east-central Florida to watch the liftoff.

3) Free Chick-fil-A (sort of): Chick-fil-A is giving away free food today only, so long as you are a cow. If anyone can dress like a cow from "head to hoof," a free meal is yours. If you sort of dress like a cow, you will get some free munchies but you'll have to cough up the cash for a drink. Don't dress up? Well, you are on your own. 

4) Leaving work early this afternoon? Well, unwind with a relaxing class of bingo at the . It's free and begins at 1 p.m.

5) Get your weekend moving by taking part in an energy class at the Gulfport Recreation Center. The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. the class is open to all for a modest charge of $5 a class.
