Five things Gulfport residents need to know as the end to the short work week is almost here.

1) Weather: Per AccuWeather.com, as we wake up this morning it's already going to be warm and sticky, with a temperature of 79 and 83 percent humidity. By the time you get to work it will be in the mid-80s and by noon we should reach the high of the day at 90. Clouds will begin rolling in early in the afternoon with the best chance of rain at 6 p.m. and into the night.

2) Tai Chi: The Gulfport Recreation Center hosts a Tai Chi class each Thursday at 9 a.m. The discipline is known to offer unique health benefits and gently works to strengthen every system in the body.

3) Free movie!: Muvico Theatres at BayWalk in St. Petersburg will have a free showing of the children's movie Megamind. Movie begins at 10 a.m.

4) Outdoor music: Visitors along the beach by "The Toonsters." The group will play at the Beach Pavilion No. 6 and over two hours of music will fill the air beginning at 1 p.m.

5) Girls night out: Everything a business woman would want can be found in this ladies-only night out, hosted by House of Renee Originals. Here, women get to network, learn about skin care, hairstyling and more. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. Cost is $50 or free for LS1 Shopper & Biz members.
