Five Things to Know Today: Tuesday, July 5
Here are five things to know as Gulfport recovers from the eventful three-day holiday weekend and begins a short work week.

1) 1) Per AccuWeather.com, as we wake up this morning it will be in the high 70s under partly cloudy skies. The day will turn steamy with an expected high of 92 reached at mid-afternoon The thunderstorms aren't expected to hit until around 6 p.m. and may stretch into the night.
2) The Fresh Market returns! Just as the vendors pack up their wares from the festivities for the Fourth of July, they will return this morning at 9 a.m. for the weekly market downtown. The market features fruits, vegetables, seafood, cheese, honey, baked goods, teas, herbs and plants. Vendors also sell local arts and crafts and feature live music.
3) Gulfport City Council meets. The Gulfport City Council will gather at tonight at 7 p.m. for its regularly scheduled meeting. It is a good bet finances will be discussed as the city has discussed for several weeks way to get out of a projected shortfall.

4) Weekly tennis lessons are held at the city's tennis courts at 2700 53rd St S. for both children and adults. Beginning at 4:30 p.m., lessons for youngsters six-and-older are held. The class opens at 5 p.m. for point-playing juniors, ages 8-16. Adult classes begin at 6 p.m. Classes are $10 an hour.
5) Euchre tournaments. Seniors itching to play some cards can head to the to play Euchre. It's free and begins at 6:30 p.m.
