Former Bookkeeper at Stetson University College of Law Arrested for Grand Theft

Former Stetson bookkeeper admits to using Stetson accounts to pay $2,400 of her personal bills.

On Friday March 4, 2011 Cheryl Lynn Hogue, 49, of Oldsmar was arrested for a third degree felony charge of grand theft. Hogue has since bonded out of jail on $5,000. Hogue faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

According to the Gulfport Police report, Cheryl Hogue admitted to stealing about $2,400 over the course of her career. Hogue said she paid her Bright House bill and TECO bill with Stetson checks by making copies of statements and checks and applying them to the Stetson paperwork. The report claims officials with the university believe $12,000 is missing, much more than the $2,400 Hogue admitted to.

Hogue was voluntarily taken to the Gulfport Police Department after officers approached her on the morning of Friday March 4th at Stetson University while she was cleaning out her office.
