Why go: It's history! The final shuttle launch ends a chapter in America's conquest of space.
Price: $1,000 to free. If you want a VIP seat it will cost you. Or, you can go to any number of free places in east-central Florida to watch it.
Where: St. Pete Beach Aquatic Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Dr.

Time: 8 p.m.
Why go: Combine a movie for the family with a pool party, how fun is that? For $3 the family can splash in the cool water and watch the movie Sponge Bob Square Pants. Snacks and drinks will be sold on site.

Why go: Hip-hop hits downtown St. Petersburg featuring some of the area's up-and-coming acts including Famous Kid Brick, Lil Kee and Shawty.

Why go: Who doesn't like bass-thumping, toe-tapping, guitar-talking blues? This is part of the Side Door summer concert series.

Why go: If you are a guy, this needs no explanation. If you are a girl, you can check out the fashions. If you are just curious, watch the girl who will be crowned to represent the Sunshine State and compete in the 2012 Miss America pageant.
