It’s Friday, and the weekend’s just around the corner. If you’re still stumped on what to do, we’ve got some great ideas for both you or perhaps your family.
"Keep Gulfport Weird" Mini Triathlon
Where: 5424 Gulfport Blvd S, Gulfport, FL (The event begins in the church parking lot, then travels around the Clymer Park Greenways to Shore Boulevard South to finish with a swim along the beach from Shelter #7 to the Gulfport Casino.)

Why go: The first-ever "Keep Gulfport Weird" Mini Triathlon incorporates a one-mile run, a three-mile bike ride, and a quarter-mile swim.

5th Annual Native Landscape Tour
Where: 2955 Central Ave, St. Petersburg
When: Saturday, Sept. 24
Time: 8 a.m.
Why go: The Pinellas Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society presents one of its most popular events this weekend. Each has six sites that showcase the beauty of native-plant habitats that are environmentally- and wildlife-friendly, using less water, fertilizer and pesticides. Talk to homeowners about what inspired them and how they accomplished these creative changes to their yards.
Price: $5 in advance; $8 day of the tour

When: Saturday, Sept. 24
Time: 4 - 10 p.m.
Why go: The 4th Annual Tangerine Blues Fest features a great lineup of blues entertainers. During the festival there will also be an art and craft show, an antique car show sponsored by the Down Shifters of Brooklyn, and a children's fun area including special appearances by Mayor McCheese and the Hamburglar. There will be food and beverage vendors available, so please, no coolers.

Donate Blood at Tangerine Blues Fest
Where: 3007 Beach Blvd, S. Gulfport
When: Saturday, Sept. 24
Time: 3:30 p.m.
Why go: All donors will receive a free cholesterol screening, a buy-one-admission-get-one-free voucher to the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) in Tampa, a gift card for a free Subway foot-long sandwich, and a free T-shirt.

Tampa Bay Rays Summer Concert Series: Miranda Lambert
Where: Tropicana Field, 1 Tropicana Dr., St. Petersburg
When: Saturday, Sept. 24
Time: 7:10 p.m.
Why go: Country-music superstar Miranda Lambert closes out the Rays' Summer Concert Series.
