Gulfport Man Critically Hurt in Carjacking

Police found 51-year-old Clinton Hattaway lying in the road, severely beaten.

A Gulfport man was in critical condition late Sunday night at Bayfront Hospital with life-threatening injuries, after police say his pickup truck was carjacked in St. Petersburg.

According to St. Petersburg police, Clinton Hattaway's 1999 Chevy pickup was carjacked in the area of the 2200 block of 47th St. S.

Police found the driver lying in the street, after receiving a call at about 6:30 p.m. He had been severely beaten, and had upper-body injuries.

A subsequent investigation revealed Hattaway had been severely beaten in a  carjacking, police said.

Hattaway's 1999 white Chevrolet truck was later found at 4601 22nd Ave S. Police said the investigation is continuing, but there are no suspects.
