An 18-year-old Gulfport man was transported to <a href="http://www.bayfront.org/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Bayfront Medical Center</a> with life-threatening injuries after officials say he lost control of his vehicle while traveling at a high speed. About 9:30 Monday night, Alex Brian Taylor was turning near 30th Avenue Northeast and First Street when his rear tire scraped the west curb on First Street and split open. The Dodge he was driving slid out of control and into a tree. The <a href="http://www.stpete.org/police/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">St. Petersburg Police Department</a> is investigating the accident. Taylor's family has been notified.
