Lila's Love for Animals Honored on Pet Mural
A young animal lover is immortalized in a St. Petersburg mural memorializing pets.
f you drive along Central Avenue in downtown St. Petersburg, you may see the mural of dogs painted by Anna Hamilton of Murals for Mutts.
Anna and Dawn Carney are co-founders of Murals for Mutts, and it is a great way to immortalize your pet for everyone to view.
Recently, there is an addition on the mural – a human. This is a special case and a special human.

On Jan. 8, 2012, Lila Nissenbaum's life suddenly ended from an illness. She was just 7 years old. Yet this little girl touched so many lives, especially the lives of animals.
She adored animals so much that, in lieu of flowers, it was asked that donations be made to a local animal rescue organization. Wellcare Pharmacy and Health Services donated a large amount in Lila’s name.

With the mural on Central Avenue honoring all those animals that have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, what better way to remember Lila than with her portrait on the wall?
She is joined there with one of her favorite dogs, Mr. Fluffy, who resides at Lila’s grandparents’ home.
She loved animals so much, that she truly was their angel. Most of us look for an animal for looks, but not Lila; she loved them all, even the ones rejected by adults!
Her love was real and unconditional; it was the way that all of us should be. The love and joy you see her in eyes was real. She would ride ponies, sleep with her cat, Minty, and pick up worms and lizards for fun.
Her family and friends were heartbroken by her sudden death; they will now be able to forever see her on the wall.
They know that she will be waiting at Rainbow Bridge for all of her animals to come and see her. I am hoping that she is there with all of our animals that have passed, showing them the love they deserve until we can get there for our reunion.
Everyone who knew her should feel honored, as she brightened the day, and now everyone can see her beautiful smile on the wall.
A special thanks needs to go to Murals for Mutts for adding her to the wall, Wellcare Pharmacy and Health Services for the donation, all of the individuals who donated money, and Dunedin Doggie Rescue for suggesting that she be put on the wall.
She forever will be remembered.
