New Home Chosen for Chamber of Commerce

The Gulfport Chamber of Commerce will be moving to it's new location in less than three weeks.

After countless hours of searching for a new home, the Gulfport Chamber of Commerce has found a location to move into later this month.

The chamber will move to 4926 Gulfport Blvd. in the Gulfport Plaza, which also holds the Gulfport Hardware store and Jackson Hewitt.

Officials have been looking for a new office since the beginning of the year when they were told that the Bank of America that housed them was closing down.

The closing brought in a lot of support from the community who wanted to make sure that the chamber found a new location before the bank closed down, Rosso said.

The spot on Gulfport Blvd. was found after a lot of work went into canvassing buildings that fit the zoning needs for the chamber.

“It seemed like a good place to be, because it was right at the crossroads of 49th Street and Gulfport Boulevard,” said Lori Rosso, president of the Gulfport Chamber of Commerce.

The new location should open up on March 6, Rosso said. The chamber will close down the week of February 28 to get everything prepared for the big move.

“Hopefully it'll attract people coming through to stop by and see what we're all about,” Rosso said.

The chamber plans to move on March 2nd and encourages anyone to come out and help.

“We've got a moving company, but can always use an extra hand,” Rosso said.
