Nursing Home Worker Charged in Child Porn Case

Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies say the man had more than 400 explicit images on his computer.

A long-term investigation into the uploading of pornographic pictures of children onto a photo-sharing website has ended with the arrest of a Gulfport nursing home worker.

Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies say their investigation began in May 2013 when they received a tip about a person who had uploaded pornographic pictures of kids onto a photo sharing site. Detectives received a subpoena to track the IP address, which was traced to a Pinellas Park nursing home and the identification of a possible suspect. In May of this year, detectives once again received a tip about the uploading of five pornographic pictures. This time the investigation pointed directly at their suspect, an email to media stated.

On Wednesday, detectives caught up with the man they say was responsible for uploading the photos at the Gulfport nursing home where he is currently employed.

The man voluntarily returned to his South Pasadena home where detectives executed a search warrant, the email said. That search turned up more than 400 child porn images on the man’s computer.

Terry Johnson, 53, was charged Wednesday with five counts of sexual performance by a child/possession of child pornography, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies did not say what nursing home Johnson works at, nor did they elaborate on his position.

Johnson was being held in the Pinellas County Jail Thursday in lieu of $51,000 bond, jail records indicate.
